How to Configure Linksys Wi-Fi Range Extender with The Router Manually?
Many users who are using Linksys range extender WiFi want to know if they could configure the extender with their existing routers manually or not. If you too want to know about this, then read the below-mentioned blog post.
The sole motive of a wireless range extender is to provide signals to those areas where usually signals fail to reach. There are certain areas in homes and offices where it is very hard for a wireless signal to reach, blame it on the less coverage area of the router or the position of the room. In order to solve this issue, you need to get a wireless range extender, which will transmit the signal to those remote areas of your house or office where it was not possible for you to access the internet on your devices.
There are many brands that are available today, which manufacture wireless range extenders, but today, we are going to talk about a top brand, i.e., Linksys Wireless-N Range Extender. With this router, you will be able to get signals in the remotest areas of your house or office. Today, we are going to discuss the process of configuring a wireless range extender, which is not difficult at all if you’d follow the steps in the exact same way in which they are mentioned below.
Before you commence with the steps, it is important for you to do the following:
1. Identify the wireless settings of the router or the access point, which are:

You will have to reset the device, and for that, you can press and hold ‘reset’ button for 5 seconds. The ‘Reset’ button is located at the top panel of Linksys range extender. If the LED doesn’t start blinking for 5 seconds, then hold the ‘reset’ button until the LED starts blinking. - Connect the Wi-Fi range extender to the main power outlet and see if the LED lights have become stable or not.
- Open your web browser, let it be Firefox, Chrome or Opera, and type in the IP address of your router. If you know the default IP address, then type it in the address bar, if not, then you can get in touch with your Internet service provider. Or, they can log onto http www.mywifiext.net to find the details of their internet.
- You will see a window is popped up on the screen asking you to enter the username and password. You will have to leave the username field blank and enter ‘admin’ in the password field. Click ‘login’.

- There will be an option named ‘Radio Button’, which you have to set to ‘Manual’, followed by entering the Network name of the router (SSID). Know more about it by doing www mywifiext net login.
- Now, you will have to go to a section named ‘Wireless Security’ in which you will choose the security settings that match your router’s configuration. Enter your WEP key or passphrase followed by clicking ‘save settings’.
- Take the power off the router and Wi-Fi range extender for half a minute. Then, restore the power on the router, wait for the lights to be stable and then, restore the power of the Wi-Fi range extender.
